Jim Turk's Condition

Tumor in the esophagus where it meets the stomach, partially blocking the passage into the stomach.

Talked to surgeon on Wednesday and he wants a complete bone scan (Monday 7/31) and stomach/liver area scan (Thursday 8/3) to see if there are any more tumors.

Once this is done, I will have chemotherapy and radiation therapy as needed. (Oncologist visit Monday 8/7).

If an operation is still necessary, they will either go through the rib cage or the back of the neck. They will remove the tumor and esophagus, then pull the stomach up into place and re-attach it.

This surgery is major-major surgery, or as he put it to me, "Your lung operation was hardly anything compared to this."
